The Climate Pledge is a platform founded by Global Optimism and Amazon, where they challenge businesses to become sustainable by committing to be Net Zero Carbon by 2040, 10 years ahead of The Paris Agreement.
Goal
Amazon and Global Optimism want as many (big) companies as possible to become signatories of The Climate Pledge and therefore committing to becoming Net Zero Carbon by 2040.
The process
This was a complicated one in terms of the amount of workflows, the coorporate nature of Amazon approvals we needed and the tight deadlines we had to manage. We had a couple of designers working on different design directions, which needs the in-page storytelling as a base, but isn't held back (not my words!) by UX.
Challenges
The multiple workstreams in timezones across the whole world was definitely one challenge, another big one was making the website double AA compliant, whilst keeping the creativity level high.
We also had a very challenging timeline component, going both into the past and the future. I've worked out a bunch of wireframes to get this one to work for both desktop and mobile.
Never settle with what you did, stay curious and keep learning. We're not clairvoyant.
Takeaways
→ Accessibility is not a buzz-killer for creativity, but it requires collaboration
→ Keep reinventing the process in order to find an efficient and quick way of working that is comfortable for everyone
→ Keep communication open and clear, especially if there's multiple timezones and workstreams involved
